Magma Spear, Shockbolts, and Icy Blast, all up to rank10/tier2 only (better because higher ranks of skills cost more MP, especially after tier2, and for some it can be not worth it after a certain tier). You can totally make a wand embermage, and get the Wand Chaos passive to trigger stuff on each hit. I have played/am currently playing a Gunlander and a Cannonneer, so if you'd like any more thoughts on getting started then I'd be happy to help. I've found the damage output utterly sucks without the crits and its much harder to increase crit hit chance sufficiently via sockets than it is crit hit damage. I also disagree with taking no dexterity. You'll fill your charge bar pretty quick using your cannon, so it seems quite superflous.

Dynamo field is only useful when you're slap bang in the middle of the enemies which, er, defeats the point of a ranged, knockback character. I disagree with taking dynamo field - on a ranged, basic attack character I think its really pointless. There is an 'okay' (in my opinion) guide for the cannonneer here Thereafter, I've used skulls and enchants to increase my vitality further.Ī great guide for the 'Gunlander' is here. I'm playing a Cannonneer on Hardcore Elite at the moment and for about the first 8-10 levels I put most of my points into vitality to give me a good baseline before refocusing on str and dex. The complication with the cannonneer is that a lot of cannons have high vitality as a requried stat. In both cases, you want to invest points in your ranged damage skills and put your skill points into a split of str and dex. There are two that spring to mind: the Gunlander (ranged basic attack outlander, using a shotgonne) and the Cannonneer (ranged basic attack engineer, using a cannon).
